51st Veteran of the Quarter, Ronald W. Rowden, US Army

On June 24, 1969, at the age of 19, Ronald W. Rowden enlisted in the United States Army. The next day, he reported to Ft. Leonard Wood for Basic Training, which was held over the next few months in four stages. Then, in August, he reported to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for Advanced Infantry Training and by November he was sent to the Republic of South Vietnam, assigned to Company D 2nd/ 12th 1st Cav. A year later, in December of 1970, he was assigned to Company C 1st/ 36th 3rd Army Armored Division and reported to Friedberg, Germany.

In June 1971, Ronald Rowden was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army.  For his years of service, Rowden received many honors, awards, and accolades including Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, (2) Army Commendation Medals with Combat “V” Device, Air Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, and (2) Overseas Bars. Rowden has served in various post-military organizations that support his fellow veterans, their families, and the community, including Elk Lodge #2505 Kimberling City – Member, The American Legion – Member, Veterans of the Ozarks – Life Member, Board Member, Honor Guard, & Color Guard, and VFW – Life Member.
