43rd Veteran of the Quarter, John Manning, US Army
May 1, 2021
John started as a Military Police Officer and transitioned to a Strategic Plans and Policy Officer. After 30 years, 14 household moves, and 3 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, he retired out of the Pentagon as a Colonel.
His favorite assignments were with a Joint Counterterrorism Task Force in Iraq and Afghanistan. His awards include two Bronze Stars, a Legion of Merit and The Distinguished Service Medal. Although he enjoyed his military career; he is very happy in his new career as the Assistant City Manager in Branson. He is also enjoying being engaged in Veteran activities in Branson to include membership in the Branson Veterans of America 913, Grand Marshall in the Veterans Day Parade, and a wreath laying participant in the first ever Wreaths Across America Ceremony in Branson.
When he is not working or enjoying family time, he is likely woodworking or throwing axes. He is also a wonderful father to an Army Captain in the 101st Airborne Division, a Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Infantry Division, and a “princess” at the University of Arkansas. He is also my best friend and has been my wonderful husband for 30 years.
THE PROUD. THE STRONG. THE LOYAL. OUR VETERANS!
