18th Veteran of the Quarter, Arlen Lipper, US Air Force/US Army

March 21, 2015

I met Master Sergeant (US Army, Retired) Arlen Lipper several years ago when I moved to this beautiful area of America. He is active in so many positive ways helping local veterans and their families. He would make an excellent Veteran of the Quarter.

Arlen Lipper started his distinguished military career when he joined the US Air Force in 1968 and served 4 years on a KC-135 Airborne Refueling Tanker as a Crew Chief. Two years of his USAF time was spent in SE Asia. After departing the USAF, Arlen joined the Army Reserve and spent the next 10 years as a Combat Engineer Demolition Specialist and served in numerous leadership roles. Arlen then went full-time active duty until his retirement in 2002. While on active duty, Arlen served in numerous positions within the Armor and Infantry career fields and also served as a Casualty Officer during Desert Storm. He’s a graduate from numerous military schools including the Sergeants Major Academy, the Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Course and a Drill Sergeant.

His untiring devotion and support to helping needy and disabled veterans and their families is not limited to, but includes participation and raising funds for:

Honor Tour – This event flies World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the Memorial.
Wounded Warrior Project – This organization raises awareness and enlists the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members.
Veterans Haven – This organization helps homeless veterans with a place to live, achieve employment, and much more.
Solo Rider Golf Cart – This project allows veterans who are incapacitated from the waist down to enjoy the game of golf at the Thousand Hills Golf Course, locally.
Kids of our Heroes Adventure Camp – Allows children of our heroes to develop the skills of courage, confidence, and resiliency to overcome the fears and challenges of living with a wounded veteran, or rise above the loss of a parent who made the ultimate sacrifice to our nation.
Disabled American Veterans – Provides rides to needy and disabled veterans to their VA Hospital appointments, helps with VA disability claims, and emergency funds.
Branson Veterans Events & Reunions – Arlen founded this organization in March of 2010. He plans many veteran events locally throughout the year, such as the “Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Celebration” and “Veterans Homecoming Week” (Nov 5-11) which includes numerous veteran events and reunions.

Master Sergeant (Retired) Arlen Lipper is involved with almost every veteran activity in the Branson Area. If it’s about veterans, just look around and you’ll find him. Such a great community leader in the veteran causes!
